I'd misread things, and it's clear that you're already using the raw
API, so that's not much help.

100MHz of CPU is not a huge amount for a 1 Gbps network.  You'd expect
to get pretty close to 1 Gbps with that, but you're probably not going
to have much left over.  It would be interesting to see what resource
(e.g. raw CPU, memory bandwidth, OS overhead) is your limiting factor.
