Follow-up Comment #2:
Having thought this through, we should remove the public API 'dhcp_release'
and make 'dhcp_stop' issue a release message if we're using a lease
currently.
(possibly with a backwards-compatibility define for 'dhcp_release' pointing to
'dhcp_stop' for the next sub-versions)
Added bug #50262 for the release message issue.
