I'd vote for somewhere in arch since it's hw dependent
even though not arch dependent as in 'platform'.
Maybe a new dir hw in plaform or arch/netif?
The issue of source tree layout needs a bit more thoght.
IMO arch should be outside of src too but that's another topic.
