You can try using the NetBIOS naming service: it is supported by default in
Windows, MacOS X and most Linux distributions.

Hi,
I wonder if there is a way to communicate with a device with a name, not
an IP address.
For example, my device (running lwip of course) has IP address
192.168.2.250.
If I "ping 192.168.2.250", it is ok.
I'd like to "ping lwip_device".
