Sorry, that's because I write the mails during work (and lwIP is not on 
my project list, currently) :-)

The problem with other ports is that you can never tell if they are 
correct. The *nix and windows ports are maintained by the lwIP team and 
if they aren't correct, we can easily fix them. Taking one of the 
embedded ports not maintained by us as an example or starting point can 
obviously lead you on the wrong tracks (as you already saw).
