I don't think it's a version problem. I tried your example, without the
quotes (lynx http://www.lycos.com/cgi-bin/pursuit?query=nick), with lynx
2.6, 2.7, 2.7.1 and 2.7.1/Fotemods and it worked fine with all of them.
