LYNX-DEV Forked image DL?

I'm more and more frequently using lynx in favour of other browsers because of 
it's
efficiency. The more I use it and study it, the more I love and adore it.

Well, enough bragging for this time :) Is it possible to add something like:
        "if (!fork()) return;
" when starting to download images and other stuff that requires an external 
app?

I think this little advancement would have been of great value, compared to 
efficiency.
