There was an earlier discussion about why the OEM character set used
in Windows versions of lynx doesn't display international characters
correctly, even with the character translation code.

I finally observed that my slrn news reader using the same OEM character
set and compiled for Windows actually does display international characters
correctly (within the limits of what the OEM set contains). Since I am
comparing slrn and lynx using the slang library, I am passing along the
suggestion that the character translation implementors might want to have
a look at the slrn character translation code to see what it does that
works so well.

(Remember also that slrn compiles for Unix and VAX, so we are comparing
like with like.)
