lynx-dev I am hurtin!

I just downloaded lynx 2.8.1  win32 version.  I am having to evaluate some
web-sites to make sure they conform to text standards.  My problem is that
my pc is on a network, with a firewall and when I try to execute lynx, it
looks for www.stop.com <http://www.stop.com> , www.stop.edu
<http://www.stop.edu> , www.stop.net <http://www.stop.net> , then it says
that it cannot connect with host, then it shuts down. What is going on?
