it sounds as if you got the full package which you have to compile yourself:
that requires a bit of programming-type experience -- not much -- ,
so you may be better to get a pre-compiled version from
www.fdisk.com/doslynx/lynxport.htm ;
there have been other inquiries like yours recently,
so have a look in the Archive at www.flora.org/lynx-dev/ .
2-8-1 is somewhat out-of-date: the latest is 2-8-2 ,
whose full package you can get from www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/ ;
if you want to use that full package, read README & INSTALLATION .
if you still have problems, ask again at address@hidden ,
giving a meaningful Subject to attract the right volunteers.
