Actually you have a larger problem than this suggests with NTLM, apparently it 
depends on your IP numbers and therefore is actually *impossible* to proxy. 
This is what the squid FAQ says about NTLM.

Your admin should use MD5 authentication instead, which is supported by 
netscape at least. I suspect IE supports it too. This authentication is just 
as secure and is proxy compatible, hence netscape prefering it to NTLM. A good 
HTTP proxy, for example squid, will support all sorts of clients. Sadly M$ 
proxy is not such a beast and required special clients, only avialable for M$ 
systems, last time I heard.

Newer versions of M$ proxy may support socks which is cross platform. The best 
solution, if it is politically possible, is to replace M$ proxy with squid or 
an IP masqetading gateway (any old 486 running linux is quite sufficient for 
light duty).
