Good question - i only knew the first. The "official" one is afaik the
first. So imo we should stick with it if nobody else have something
against this.

It depends... The official one (the first link) is no more updated... The second one is svn updated and it's also referenced as official in Creative Labs forum. 
My compiled static lib is linked by some programs with no problems. That's my experience but still don't remember if the version posted on Creative Labs website can be linked static...
