hi,
had the same problem. cvs update doesn't seem to work. rm -rf mldonkey 
and a new checkout helped. I've got another problem: the telnet 
interface seems to be broken. "commit", "kill" and so on do not work.
and the banner saying "Welcome to Mldonkey console" doesn't show up 
also. console commands in the gui work though.
