I disagree. A router is a machine to route my network traffic - no matter what
I throw at it. If it has problems, it should (maybe) drop it, but not cease
routing "normal" traffic!
Funnily enough, it seems to work once I use it behind a Linux box who does
NATing. Maybe I should look into User Mode Linux and run mldonkey on that
virtual box... I'll keep you posted once I try it out.

A bug is a coding error in to a program. The ammount of memory is limited in to
router to keep prices down. This is the reason why router tables sometimes have
a low number of entries. This clearly isn't a bug of the router! Its a feature.

On Zyxel routers you should disable NAT and get rid of that stupid 256 limit.

Hello,
In fact, this is not a bug. This is a problem on a 'chip' router. Also, your
router have a little nat table, and on the major 'chip' router (like zyxel
prestige 310 ...) the nat table have only 255 entry. So, when you make a
connection to outside, you user more and more connection on nat table, and
after a moment, the router haven't finish to refresh the nat table (after dead
connection, timeout connection ....) that you ask a other and you flood the nat
table. A this time, when you as a new connection, the router drop the packet
because his internat nat table is full. The connection appear down, but not it
is.
The arround is to config mldonkey to open max 100 connection , and if possible
disable overnet (nat is for incoming and outcoming packet).
Or by a other router. I have change my prestige 310 by a cisco 1605 (with
ethernet modem) and i limit the nat table to 3072 entry to the nat table. Then,
i can use 600 connection in same time (the cpu of cisco router is 40% of use).
Ludovic LEVET.

In my opinion this is also a bug with the firmware on the routers in question,
no amount of bad traffic should _ever_ hang the router.

same problem for me here. lowering the mtu of the ppp-device
apparently helped in preventing the problem to appear for a few hours, but it
still appears :(
