I realize this isn't completely MLDONKEY related,
but with such a statement flowing through this list,
a USERS list at that, I couldn't help myself.

Seems to me that you should be providing constructive
critique rather than this.  I would feel that your
community can benfit from clients that are properly
adjusted to meet the limitations of the network.

Thinking of this problem with OpenNap as client based,
rather than accepting that both sides need improvement
is rather short sighted.

Now on the whole bandwidth issue, donkey in general
is a very slow paced yet eventual delivery of a file.
There really is no instant gratification on donkey
networks, while OpenNap being a derivative of a
rather greedy and "I want it now" userbase, I'd think
that just because the speed of the file coming down
to a user over OpenNap isn't hitting record speeds,
the user would opt to find another source.  Until
OpenNap (correct me if I'm wrong), supports multi sources
at these "minimum" speeds, OpenNap as a network is missing out.
