No, that usally works fine and here is why:

If there are thousands of sources, that's no problem for the donkey if 
lot of the sources have enough chunks.
The bad thing with the posted file is, that there are a lot of people 
that want a pretty new file.
So there are a lot of people out there, that have just a few MBs and 
only 1-5 uploaders that have the complete file. Mldonkey find thousands 
and thousands of sources, that are just irrelevant.
So mldonkey is removing and adding like hell all the time, giving no 
time to download (and upload!) anything.

I had that problem a few times and the best solution is just to wait 
about a 1-2 weeks. Than either a lot of sources are gone (some just give 
up, some delete the downloaded files to make room for new files) or 
there are enough chunks to get a good download again and not too many 
sources have to be removed by the donkey.

It is not a mldonkey-problem. It is more a problem with too many people 
that want the same file. I tried mldonkey 1.16, mldonkey1.99+5, emule, 
edonkey-offical: everywhere the same problem. Too many sources, that 
don't have the files!
