I am here to please ;-)

The earlier post I sent was from pristine sources checked out last
night at about 23:00 PDT, a new checkout 12 hours later (now) yields
the same error, and cvs status in the older tree shows that nothing
had changed yet. Too bad, no FM :(

[side note: is there a handy counter recorded somewhere that is
used for referencing the latest bump of any files in the release?]

Sorry Martin, I hope you didn't feel like I was asking you to fix
it - just giving you some quick feedback ;-)

I will take a look, it sure is a strange message and probably bogus
as it regards the actual code, but for the most part I am going to
stay out the way. You guys are moving extremely fast so that is
probably the most valuable contribution I can make right now, and
I think Christian does have a Mac to test with. If I can find a
simple explanation for this phenomenon I'll be sure to let you know.

FWIW:
PACKAGE_VERSION still needs to be defined by hand in config.h
-- configure.out --
Architecture: DARWIN
SSL support: enabled
SSL directory: /usr
resource monitoring: enabled
resource code: sysdep_DARWIN.c
Compiler flags: -g -O2 -Wall -DREENTRANT -no-cpp-precomp -I/usr/include
Linker flags: -lpthread -framework System -multiply_defined suppress -lkvm

pid file location: /var/run
