thanks for report. Is this related just to 64-bit kernel or 32-bit as well?

When you are running on 64-bit kernel, it could be beter to compile monit with 64-bit support, which is default on AMD64 based linuxes for example. Then the 'long' type is 64-bit as well as 'long long'.

If it affects 32-bit kernel s well, we can extend the type as you suggested.
