Actually, the sqlite documentation is a bit misleading. The X'ABCD'
syntax must be read as X'<hex encoded blob>' as a properly blob literal
should be made from an even number of hex digits.
Given that, I think the best solution is still to use normdate() or
unbase64_text() from my last patch.
Perhaps when the work on binding parameters in the sqlite3 branch is
merged on mainline we can revisit the issue.
Converting database::complete(), to a bind-based approach could be a bit
painful, however :)
