I'm curious, why wouldn't it work with the short-hand variant of the path? I agree, it's *ugly*, but not invalid. Cheers, Richard
I don't have any particular reason to believe that it wouldn't work with the shorthand path, but the user was having problems and this was an anomaly. My suggestion was just to eliminate it as a possible source of any problem because that was an easy thing to do.
It is a possibility the embedded tilde could cause parsing problems somewhere. I also thought it strange that the database line had gotten set with a shorthand path, and thought it possible that something strange had happened previously to make that occur.
Mostly, it's just the paranoia of an old programmer who doesn't like unexplained anomalies. :-)
