Hello all,
I'm looking forward to being able to buy GNU mugs but
I'd like to open a debate about the labels on the mugs.
How about listing 4 freedoms that the mug gives you (instead
of the four pillars of Free software).
"With this mug you get the Freedom to:
0 ...use it for any beverage
1 ...alter/vandalise it to suit your needs
2 ...share you beverage with others
3 ...add sugar to taste"
I think people would be more inclined to actually read these.
People might then ask "whats all that crap on your cup?"
On an ethical note, a GNU mug would be a great place to inform
people about FairTrade (cash crops like coffee and tea which are
bought for reasonable prices from farmers in developing countries).
"This mug is optimised for FairTrade beverages"
and maybe a mention of www.maketradefair.org on the underside or
near the bottom.
A picture of a GNU head and a two line comment about what the FSF
is/does would finish the mug of nicely.
"The Free Software Foundation is the main sponsor of the GNU project.
A wholey Free operating system [yadda yadda], Free as in Freedom."
(haven't thought out that sentence yet.)
What do people think?
