A friend of mine has asked a question: how popular are workflows, web services etc. In biology
She wanted clear indicators such as:

- Number of biological laboratories using web services / workflows
the Elixir and Embrace projects might have survey data.
- Number of researchbiological papers that contain services / workflows in method section
scientists don't include the programmes they use at all or even credit the bioinformatics in their methods. So why would they refer to a web service or workflow?

Has anyone made such analysis?
If not, what can I present instead?

George
