Hi Alan

Thanks for looking at this.

I am working with Windows 7 Enterprise and Microsoft Office 2010. I was also
copying and pasting from Adobe Reader X version 10.1.12. I suspect (but I am
guessing) that this might have something to do with the specific characters I
was copying and pasting - including quotation marks, which were displayed as
'&quot' when I first tried converting the relevant text to ANSI in Notepad++.

What operating system are you using? I have tried to replicate this on my
Windows 8.1 machine and have not been able to. I copied text directly from Word
and Excel and also from a PDF file using Chrome and Firefox. I used the
Word/Excel Copy and then Ctrl-V'd into the description box.
This is Word and Excel 2010, with Firefox 39/40 and Chrome 36. The copying
included formatted text (fonts, lists etc.). The formatting was not mimicked
well, but I did not get any strange XML.

It is probably something horribly version specific. Can you give more details?

Sorry I have not been more help.
