I've just committed my latest patch (after OKing it
off-list).  It's identical to the last version I posted here
about, except that the changelog now lists all changes the
patch makes, and one update_line() call added in search.c
now correctly uses current_x instead of placewewant (I just
discovered that problem today).  I've been using it for a
while and it's worked very well in my experience; let me
know if any problems crop up with it.

I'm going to try and fix that minor regexp searching bug
next.  (Warning: the current changes may break most of the
existing patches against 1.1.9-cvs; after the bug fix, I'll
see if I can put them back in sync.)
