might i suggest a slight modification to the current behavior ?  atm, if 
whitespace is defined in nanorc, then as soon as you edit a file, the 
whitespace is automatically highlighted for you ... most of the time i dont 
want to see the whitespace marked different, i just want to flick it on 
quickly to check things ...
