Other than marking the words you want removed and hitting Ctrl-K, no. I've considered inplementing what you've suggested, i.e, deleting words
with one keystroke, but there are two main problems:

1. Lack of keys.  Alt-Backspace would be a good key to use, except that
it's another case of a meta sequence involving a keypad key, and I can't
think of a remotely intuitive meta sequence that doesn't involve one and
which doesn't conflict with any other meta sequence in the main menu. (If you can, let me know.)

2. Deletion versus cutting.  If the key is hit accidentally, there's no
way to get the words back short of implementing a hack along the lines
of "Can now UnJustify!", or at least not until Undo and Redo are
implemented.
