I thought so. In order to be certain it's a curses problem, would you
mind doing the following:
1. Building and installing nano 1.2.5, and testing whether it also
crashes after a resize?
2. Installing ncurses, building nano 1.3.11 against that (its configure
script checks for ncurses before curses, in any case), and testing
whether the version built against ncurses still crashes after a resize?
