Well, this seems to work fine.  But a previous smooth-scrolling
patch has an unwanted effect: when searching for a string that
is currently not on the screen, the cursor ends up on the bottom
line when it finds the string (or on the top line when searching
backwards).  This is not good.  I am so used to nano centering the
found string that it almost hurts to have the cursor at the bottom:
"Show me the context!"

So the previous patch needs some refinement.  Attached patch
restores the centering behaviour when searching for strings,
and adds the smooth-scrolling behaviour when pasting on the
bottom line.  If you can, please test.
