Hello Pedro,

Thanks for the translation! But... nano makes use of the TP to get
its translations. True, it's not mentioned anywhere in a README, but
it's in the FAQ: https://nano-editor.org/dist/v2.9/faq.html#5.

So, please contact Luis Oliveira, the leader of the Portuguese team,
and tell him you would like to join the team, and show him the PO file
you made for nano.

Op 13-01-18 om 09:04 schreef Pedro Albuquerque:
as suggested in README.GIT, I attached a file (I think) contains my
translation to pt_PT (Portugal).
The use of the complete ISO (pt_PT) is absolutely necessary or there
will be a mess with the brazillian files too often named (also) pt

In nano, the Portuguese PO file will be simply called pt.po. When
your locale is set to pt_PT, then, when starting nano, the gettext
system will first look for a nano.mo in the pt_PT directory. It will
not find that, and will then try the pt directory, and will thus find
your Portuguese translations. It will work fine. It will never show
you the Brazilian translations.

(That there are packages where the Brazilian PO file is called pt.po,
*that* is a mistake. A bug should be filed for those packages.)

Also, how can I keep updated with new strings? How do I subscribe to a
translations list?

When you're a member of the Portuguese team at the TP, you will be
notified of new POT files. You should subscribe yourself to the
Portuguese team list.

Regards,

Benno
