In general, it makes it easier to find a sent message or a reply to that
message. A specific use case is that sometimes I'll refer to the
Message-ID of a message (sent or received) as a source for additional
information for a task I create in Remember the Milk.

It also turns out to be incredibly handy when replying to a message in
your +outbox since the reply can create a useful In-Reply-To header
field (see below), highlighted in one of two MH-E bug reports involving
-msgid:

As a result of the first item, MH-E now calls send -msgid since if you
reply to a message in your outbox that doesn't have a Message-ID, an
In-Reply-To header field is created that breaks threading at the
recipient's end.

Given the demise of spost, I chuckled when I spotted the second item.
