Follow-up Comment #9, bug #29878 (project octave):

I won't have access to Windows until Monday.

I have confirmed that the same version on Linux reflects changes to the hard
disk and external drives, so this is a Windows specific issue for sure.

When a function is called, I imagine that the program checks for a function
that's already defined first and then checks if there's a script file in paths
matching that name.  If this is the case, then it's not Octave's fault
obviously.

In any case, I'm guessing it's just Windows not reporting the presence of a
new file and then the question is, is there a way to refresh that info.  I
would think that just checking if a file exists would be sufficient, but I
don't know how Octave uses Windows' disk I/O, so.
