Follow-up Comment #1:

Could you please try and replicate your bug using the latest source from the
Mercurial archives?  (http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/download.html) The
plotting backends have undergone a lot of change since 3.2.4.  In particular,
the FIXME line you cite is no longer in the code which leads me to believe
this issue has been addressed.
