Follow-up Comment #9, bug #30478 (project octave):

That's the problem, it probably depends on specific memory layout given by
kernel which is more a luck.

If you have it sometimes reproducible you should provide a core file (ulimit
-c unlimited; ./octave) with all the referenced binaries/libraries, octave
best compiled with "-g" (that is without "-O2").  Thanks.
