Follow-up Comment #17, bug #31305 (project octave): I'm working on the slow contour part of this bug report addressing two issues. Firstly using __patch__ rather than patch in __contour__ means that the callbacks aren't setup and that doubles the speed. The second improvement is that in the adopt function of the hggroups the axes limits are recalculated when each contour is added. Do the calcukation once at the last contour doubles rhe speed again.
