Follow-up Comment #4, bug #31512 (project octave):

"I don't think this is a bug. Neither .025 or .1 are exactly representable in
binary, so you are not computing what you think you are."


Yet, the exact same sequence of commands leads to the correct answer with
matlab ....

perhaps matlab recognizes non-integers in the command and multiplies
everything by 10? ....

also, should .25 not be representable either, then?
