Follow-up Comment #4:

I can confirm this on today's (12/13/10) tip (11348:2ae0ca4ee36b).  This is
on a Kubuntu 9.04, x86_64 system.  A possible clue is that it does not
segfault when run from the source tree with ./run-octave, but rather only when
installed and run from the default location (/usr/local/bin).

Interestingly, I ran the test under octave-3.2.4 and it accepts a null
function, but when I use 'exit' to leave the interpreter the program then
segfaults.
