Follow-up Comment #3, bug #32129 (project octave):

To answer your question: if I run an Octave version that is not in the PATH
(or not the _first_ Octave in the PATH), and install a package, the package is
installed at the correct places for the version of Octave I'm running. But if
during installation the packages Makefile simply calls "mkoctfile", it runs
the first mkoctfile in the PATH, which does not correspond to the version of
Octave I'm running.
