Follow-up Comment #10, bug #33018 (project octave):

Apparently something triggered an error cascade in configure.  Aside from the
suitesparse problem, I had awk vs nawk failures and lots of problems finding
libraries which I fixed w/ CFLAGS, LDFLAGS  & LIBS.  The problems are not
reproducible.

Attached is a log of errors from a fresh run of ./configure & make w/ the
configure arguments.  

The serious problems seem to be related to gcc using the Solaris ld, rather
than the Gnu version.  But I could be mistaken.  I can't see any reason that
one would include crti.o and friends to build a shared library.

I gave up after creating liboctinterp-3.4.0.so multiple times.

BTW My glpk is built using gmp, so configure fails w/o a "-l gmp" in LIBS
