Follow-up Comment #40, bug #31468 (project octave):

I checked in the following change.

I don't think it is complete, but it is a start.  Specifically, I think the
get_string function should return a string_vector object, but this will
require changes to any code that currently uses the string property and
assumes that the get_string method returns a std::string object.

Ben, I recommend that you apply the attached patch "extra-text-diffs.txt" so
that text.m will allow labels to be specified with numeric values.  This is in
addition to your most recent patch, which I did not apply.  It also eliminates
some duplicate logic.

Let me know if there are problems with my changes.
