Follow-up Comment #3:

I think this is an issue to take up with Debian.  If they have agreed to
provide maintenance then they can figure out which patches to backport.

Octave itself, i.e., this bug tracker, is entirely maintained by volunteers
and our latest stable series is the 3.4.X line.  We are already stretched to
thinly developing new code on the development branch and supporting a single
stable line (3.4) to contemplate also supporting a second stable line (3.2).
