Follow-up Comment #11, bug #35157 (project octave):

Well, I just discovered the: help --list
command.  Very useful and very verbose.
And, it appears at an appropriate place
in the Manual (but, who reads Manuals?).

I suspect that not many of the thousands of students
(and staff!!) on the ML course got to know about
help --list.

So, the error message that started this thread
might usefully point out that the argument is a
built-in function of an invalid type, and, maybe,
refer to the right place in the Manual.

Anyhow, after a few false starts, reading the Manual
has proved pretty useful!
