Follow-up Comment #2:

Closing bug as this references an obsolete version of Octave.  This bug can be
re-opened if the problem can be demonstrated on a recent (3.6.X) version of
Octave.

Incidentally, running Octave 3.6.0 with gnuplot 4.4 on a Kubuntu 10.04 system
exhibits no problem with your meshbug script.
