Follow-up Comment #1, bug #35618 (project octave):
The attached patch fixes this bug.
When you change the current directory using 'cd' inside the terminal, it will
update the file tree view.
If you change the dir shown in the tree view, it will execute a 'cd' command
to update the current working dir in the Octave session.
