I'm currently not able to build Octave (hope to be doing so in a day or two,
when I have time to work on that), so I'm not able to push your changeset yet
(perhaps someone else will?).

In any event, I hope you'll continue to contribute to Octave.  Related to
that, I see a few small violations of our coding standards.  There should be a
space between function names and their parentheses. For example, "diff(x)"
should be "diff (x)".

Other than that, the changeset looks good to me.
