Follow-up Comment #2, bug #38372 (project octave):

My locale are configured as Spanish via the systemsettings application from
KDE (but the LANG environment variable are not set).

I've set it to en_US.UTF-8 and now the plot works (no warnings appear, as
previously). But now when I start ./run-octave appears this warnings:

/home/topo/octave-3.7.2/libtool: line 3072: warning: setlocale: LC_CTYPE:
cannot change locale (en_US.UTF-8): No such file or directory
/home/topo/octave-3.7.2/libtool: line 3072: warning: setlocale: LC_COLLATE:
cannot change locale (en_US.UTF-8): No such file or directory
/home/topo/octave-3.7.2/libtool: line 3072: warning: setlocale: LC_MESSAGES:
cannot change locale (en_US.UTF-8): No such file or directory

With octave 3.6.x versions and prior I don't need to change the locales
