Follow-up Comment #8, bug #38075 (project octave):

If someone makes a standard release tarball named octave-X.Y.Z. tar.bz2 , e.g.
octave-3.6.4a.tar.bz2, and the tarball unpacks creating octave-X.Y.Z
directory, e.g. octave-3.6.4a , and if that directory has standard 'configure'
script, so it is possible to run

./configure ARGS
make

sequence the usual way, I can test it. I.e. the patch should already be
applied to the needed files in the tarball.

There used to be

ftp://ftp.octave.org/pub/octave/bleeding-edge

location for such kind of tarballs. If not, I need to know the URL.
