Follow-up Comment #2, bug #38716 (project octave):
There is a difference in my case
Pi is not undefined on Octave:4
on windows I receive the correct answer for Pi
if I call sin(Pi) i receive a silly error message.
I can reproduce the error on different machines with Octave 3.6.2 AND 3.6.4
(MINGW VERSION)

I can not test it on a Linux machine
