Follow-up Comment #19, bug #38305 (project octave):

Interesting.  Well, I've watched the processes when I use the file dialog on
my system and I don't see anything new that is created.  Can you see any new
processes on your system when you run the Octave GUI file dialog?  The
question I have is exactly what processes is it that are terminating
incorrectly?  Apparently the Octave worker QProcess is still functioning, and
the GUI is still running.  Are there QProcesses launched in response to
detecting a Samba server?

Your own app is launched from your local account, I assume.  What about
Octave/GUI, is that being launched from your own account?  Might it be on a
different file system?
