Follow-up Comment #24, bug #38305 (project octave):

OK, helpful.

Please remove that default Qt file dialog command and place it in the
octave_main_thread::run inside octave-main-thread.cc:

{
  // Matlab uses "C" locale for LC_NUMERIC class regardless of local setting
  setlocale (LC_NUMERIC, "C");

  octave_initialize_interpreter (octave_cmdline_argc, octave_cmdline_argv,
                                 octave_embedded);

  octave_execute_interpreter ();
}


taking the same approach trying to isolate which line of code correlates with
the freeze problem.
