Follow-up Comment #4, bug #39173 (project octave):
One comment about Qt/gnuplot. Going pretty far back, gnuplot has desired an
interactive terminal. There were attempts with one or two packages (they may
still be available). But these things wither on the vine because the packages
become out-of-date. My feeling is that Qt looks like it may be the first
legitimate candidate for an interactive gnuplot temrinal even though there is
no effort there right now because gnuplot's developer base is quite small.
But again, the big issue is communication between program components: defining
data, coordinating protocols, debugging, testing. All else pales in terms of
development.
